New Interactive Map and American Community Survey Statistics Show Changes in Montana since 1990
(Helena, MT) - Today, the U.S. Census Bureau released Census Explorer, a new interactive mapping tool that paints a portrait of how areas of Montana have changed over the past two decades.
With statistics released today from the 2008-2012 American Community Survey, the map illustrates how states, counties and census tracts have changed since the 1990 and 2000 censuses.
“The American Community Survey provides a wide range of important statistics about our community,” said Mary Craigle Census and Economic Information Center (CEIC) Bureau Chief at the Montana Department of Commerce. “The newly released five year American Community Survey data provides detailed information on income, poverty, disability, health insurance coverage, and educational attainment as well as other social, economic, and housing topics about Montana’s communities.
Retailers, homebuilders, police departments and town and city planners are among the many private- and public-sector decision makers in our communities who count on these annual results.”
To access the files released today, visit the CEIC website at http://ceic.mt.gov/Census/ACS.aspx or the U.S. Census Bureau site at www.census.gov. For more information, contact the Census & Economic Information Center (CEIC) at (406) 841-2740.
Editor's note: Statistics presented in Census Explorer for the total population are derived from the 2008-2012 American Community Survey. These five-year statistics are survey estimates and not official estimates of population size. Official estimates of population size for states and counties are released annually and can be found at http://www.census.gov/popest/estimates.html.
